Join Community Captain Jackie for a scenic hike on the Brooklyn Mine Trail, a historic route in the New River Gorge that blends railroad history, forest scenery, and creekside views. This hike is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, stay active, and explore one of the Gorge’s lesser-known trails. What to Expect: • A guided group hike on a historic trail • Easy-to-moderate terrain with natural and industrial landmarks • A relaxed pace with opportunities to stop and enjoy the scenery How to Prepare: • Wear sturdy hiking shoes appropriate for uneven terrain • Bring water and dress for the weather • Arrive a few minutes early for group check-in Registration to any Active SWV free programming indicates acceptance of our liability waiver for every adult and child attending. Please do not attend programs if you are not feeling well. https://rpb.li/rNo Regarding Community Captain Programs and groups of children: All Active SWV Community Captain programs are family friendly; children are invited to attend with the expectation of a parent/guardian ratio of 1 guardian adult to 5 children. It is our expectation for larger groups of children (e.g. Scouts, youth groups, etc), that an adult to child ratio of 1 adult to 5 children be observed in ages 5 and under, and 1 adult to 10 children be observed for ages 5 and above. If you haven't already, Join MemberPlus today: https://members.activeswv.org/member-application All hikes are made possible through Get Active In The Park, a partnership between Active SWV and the National Park Service. Get Active in the Park activities are perfect for grand-families, groups with multiple interests, and individuals. All are welcome! Youth are encouraged to attend but must be accompanied by a guardian and the adult must stay on site during the activity. Get Active in the Park is an innovative partnership between the National Park Service and Active Southern West Virginia. Trained Community Captains deliver free, beginner-level instructional programs to the New River Gorge region. Get Active in the Park empowers our community to see outdoor spaces as a place for health and wellness to take place
