The Historic Fayette Theater presents “Total Drama” Camp that is, a four day summertime experience that introduces campers to the wonder and detail of theatre performance. Drama Camp offers classes in Acting, Directing, Technical, Musical Theater, Dance, Costuming and Comedy Improvisation. The camp ends with a big show completely produced by the campers and open to all parents and friends.
Acting: For aspiring young actors, this course emphasizes both process and product. Each camper learns the three tools of an actor - body, voice, and mind. Campers also work on script analysis, group work, imagery, and basic acting technique.
Technical Theatre: Set design, lighting, sound, crew, and stage management are covered in this course on the technical aspects of theatre. Campers get hands-on training with stage equipment.
Musical Theater and Dance: Campers learn to use their voices and bodies as instruments of expression as well as tools for theatrical character development. This course also focuses on choreography, contemporary performance dance, and how to use your voice in a large performing arts theatre.
Costuming: This course teaches campers how to take a character to the next level by adding the perfect wardrobe and accessories. Campers will learn different costuming techniques to make their fellow campers shine onstage.
Comedy Improvisation: Think fast! This course teaches students the art of thinking on their feet. Students learn the craft of comedy through the use of improvisation in a series of structured and fun exercises.
