DESCRIPTION:August 4 -5\, 2018 - Visit the New River Gorge for a weekend of two amazing\, fun competitions\, the New River Gorge Challenge and the Thurmond Triathlon.\n \n\nThe Captain Thurmond's Challenge consists of 28.5 miles of the most extreme Mountain Biking\, White Water and Running in the state and some would say the East Coast. The triathlon can be done as a Solo\, Relay Team\, or Raft Team.\n \n\nThe Thurmond Triathlon is a beginner triathlon open to anyone 7 years of age and older. Individuals\, duos or families will bike from the Historic Thurmond Depot 2 miles to Stonecliff where they will then paddle 1.5 miles to the Dun Glen Day Use area. From there contestants will run a two mile loop around the Historic Town of Thurmond.\n \n\nUPDATE: The Fayetteville Town & Country 5k will not be held in 2018.
